Police assaults and arrests Pastor and congregation on construction of Church in Pakistan.

Pind Dadan Khan: July 23, 2009. (PCP report) Pastor Rehmat Masih was sleeping when police broke his door and entered in his home at 2.00 AM on July 20, 2009. The Station House Officer (SHO) of Pind Daden Khan Police Station with 12 other policemen dragged Pastor Rehmat from bed on ground and started beating him. Mrs. Rose Rehmat, wife of Pastor on hearing cries of his husband came to rescue him which was also pulled by hair by policemen and thrown on ground. Ms. Alishba Rehmat, daughter of Pastor Rehmat started shouting for help when she saw police kicking by boots to his father and mother. On hearing noise and call for help the all Christian neighborhood gathered on broken door of Pastor Rehmat but police started beating Alishba Rehmat and other men and women who entered in home. In ten minutes, police injured eight women and seven men with batons and guns. They handcuffed Pastor Rehmat Masih, his wife Rose, daughter Alishba, members of congregation Aslam John, Ashir Bhatti, Nadeem Bhatti, Haroon Bhatti, Mary John, Sonia Francis and others. Pind Dadan Khan is in jurisdiction of Rawalpindi which is known as twin city of Islamabad. In Pind Dadan Khan Full Gospel Assembly Minister Rehmat Masih serves local Christian community from years. The local Muslim landlord transferred a plot for construction of Church of Gospel Assembly in name of Pastor Rehmat Masih. After death of Muslim landlord his son started putting pressure on Pastor Rehmat Masih to transfer Church plot in his name and pleaded that his father not informed him while legally transferring land which became worth of millions after construction of Motorway from Lahore to Islamabad. Pastor Rehmat Masih presented legal transfer document to Muslim elders to defuse pressure but son of Muslim land lord not agreed to accept ownership of Church on land. The son of Muslim engaged Muslim SHO of local police Station and planned to take possession of Church plot. The SHO of Pind Dadan Khan police station summoned Pastor Rehmat Masih and threatened him to hand over Church land to Muslim but Pastor presented legal documents of transfer and wanted to approach land courts next day. The police filed a case of law and order against Pastor Rehmat Masih and raided his home on July 20, 2009, to arrest him. During arrest they injured Pastor Rehmat and those Christian men and women who agitated against illegal arrest. The “Life for All” a Rawalpindi based Christian non-governmental organization was contacted by Pind Dadan Khan Christian on July 21, 2009. When “Life for All” leaders arrived in Police Station and saw injured Pastor, his wife, daughter and other Christian men and women who were locked up without any medical help and nor produced in any court of law. The Christian leaders brought this situation in notice of higher authorities on which four injured women were transferred to hospital and Pastor was released on personal bond and admitted in hospital.
