Ensure support payment to Christian IDP,s of Swat Valley. PCC

Peshawar: July 15, 2009. (PCP) The government of Pakistan is issuing Rupees 25, 000 cash ATM as support payment to IDP,s returning to homes in Swat, Malakand and Bonier from refugee camps but non of Christian IDP,s have received such help. The Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani announced return of displaced families to homes after Pak Army successful operation to eliminate Taliban from Bonier, Dir, Swat Valley and other parts of Malakand division from July 13, 2009. The repatriation of IDP,s started from Mardan refugee camps with ATM cards of Rupees 25, 000 cash support to built their damaged homes and start normal life. There is no significant registration of Christian IDP,s in refugee camps and recorded families are only 60 which took shelter in Christian Institute Mardan of Church of Pakistan. There are thousands of Christians IDP,s who took refuge with their relatives in NWFP and Punjab after fleeing from Swat Valley, Malakand and Bonier. The sources revealed PCP that government is issuing support payment ATM,s to only registered IDP,s in refugee camps while Christian IDP,s faced discrimination to register in refugee camps and took shelter in Churches or with relatives. The Caritas, Church of Pakistan and other Christian organizations helped Christian IDP,s and also Muslim IDP,s in refugee camps with food and health care. It is reported that non of Christian IDP have received cash support ATM nor signaled by authorities to ready for repatriation. Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have urged government to pay cash support of 25,000 rupees as ATM card Christian IDP,s of Swat Valley, Bonier and Dir. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC expressed concern on neglecting Christian IDP,s in distribution of support payment and demanded government to issue cash ATM,s on recommendation of clergy of Church of Pakistan and Catholic Church of Pakistan to families who took shelter with relatives.
