Clashes among farmers and managers of Bhutto estate

LARKANA: June 11, 2009. (Nazir Siyal reports for PCP) A repeat clash among the Bhutto family estate Managers and farmers/Villagers, six injured among the Benazir Bhutto/Sanam Bhutto’s Estate Manager Riaz Phulpoto here at Union Council Behman at Izat Jee Wandh near Naudero. According to sources, a day before clash erupted, when the Bhutto clan people Gul Mohammed, Abdul Gafoor, Mohammed Malook Bhutto of village Meer Mohammed Bhutto demanded the Estate Manager Riaz Bhutto for a Sui Gas and School facilities, after the refusal of Estate Manager Riaz Phulpoto, they attacked and injured him on the occasion, while some of Bhutto clan people were also injured but there is no reports and names of the injured were received. The police and personal guards of Bhutto Estate Manager were present on the occasion, further no any causality or names of injured was received. Whereas, the late Benazir Bhutto had visited her property on December 11, 2007 and same people asked for the Sui Gas and other facilities but she refused to do so, as the village land was her property and she had asked them to move at main village nearby or at government land for the provision of basic facilities told the sources. When the contacted the District Police Officer Larkana, the administration and concerned police stations, there was no response on their telephones. On Thursday, the rifts that have sometimes been apparent in the rival branches of the Bhutto family once again the clash erupted between the Narejo tribe, the farmers of Bhutto estate (Agricultural lands) and injured five people of both fractions of Narejo tribe here at the Izat Jee Wandh near Naudero Larkana told the sources to this scribe. According to the sources, the names were identified as Allah Dito Narejo, Aslam Narejo, Mohammed Ismail Narejo and Fareed Narejo of the people of Mazno Narejo who is also the junior estate Manager (Kamdar) of Ghinwa Bhutto the widow of Murtaza Bhutto. They all were also arrested sources said. A Kamdar Mazno Narejo and his people cultivating about 1100 acre Agricultural land of Ms. Ghinwa Bhutto and rest about 900 arce Agricultural land of Sanam Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto was supervised by the other Narejo clan people here at Izat jee Wandh. while other side injured Gulab Narejo, Alan Narejo the farmers of Sanam Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto were also injured sources told on Thursday. On the occasion several people of Bhutto clan and PPP (Shaheed Bhutto) leaders at Larkana including Ghulam Rasool Umrani, Altaf Malgani, Barkat Ali Mirani, Waheed Junejo and others have protested in front of the Bhutto’s Massolium at Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto. The sources told that the dust has not settled yet, there is a gulf between the people and the Bhutto properties, It was since the death of Benazir's brother Meer Murtaza Bhutto in Karachi on 1996 while she was the Prime Minister, further the target of accusations over the Asif Ali Zardari. Later, his son Bilawal and successor as chairman of the Pakistan People's Party, the Benazir's family is one branch of the Bhutto tribe and hundreds of thousands of members range from farmers to landowners. While, Benazir's uncle Mumtaz, is also the clan patriarch who presides like a feudal lord over serfs and servants in the ancestral town of Larkana. He said about the Bilawal is an attempt to overshadow the Bhutto family and also to continue to get benefit from the name of Bhutto by the Zardaris, so that the people will not accept this.
