Wheel-Jam strike observed in Sindh against influx of IDP,s

LARKANA: June 8, 2009. (Nazir Siyal reports for PCP) Complete shutter down strike was observed in Larkana and all over districts of province on Monday by the Sindh United Party (SUP) and other nationalist groups including JSQM, SNF, STP extended their solidarity and supported the strike against the influx of internally displaced peoples (IDPs) of Swat into Sindh province. On the call of SUP and nationalist groups of Sindh held protest and announced complete shutter down strike and wheel jam in various districts of Sindh, on the occasion Markets and Bazzars, Petrol pumps were completely closed and traffic was thin on roads. The police arrested large number of workers and leaders of nationalist parties and seven SUP workers in Larkana inlcuding Murtaza Ganghro, Aftab Bhutto, Ahsan Hakro, Ayaz Depar and others. The city was deserted look at the different parts of city including the Pakistan Chowk, Bunder Road, Royal road, empire road and Station road, a heavy police and rangers were deployed at various sensitive places of Larkana and other districts and tehsils. Meanwhile, large number of primary Teachers on Monday observed protest and long March from Naudero to Garhi Khuda Bux for acceptance of their demands and various issues in education department. All Sindh Primary Teachers Association led by central leaders including Rafiq Ahmed Jarwar, Liaquat Ali Deedar, Syed Raza Ali Shah, Anwer Ali Bhutto and others took out protest rally from Naudero ends at Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto infront of Bhuuto family mesoleum. A large number of Primary Teachers holding placards, banners inscribed with slogans in favor of their demands for fulfillment of their objectives. On the occasion, central leader Liaquat Ali Deedar, Syed Raza Ali Shah, Anwar Bhutto, Irshad Ali Tunio and others leaders addressed the protestors, they said that teachers of Sindh are deprived of time scale and teachers allowance where as all there facilities are being provided to the teachers of other provinces, but they are still deprived of the genuine issues, they added that the government should review its discriminatory policy in country and fulfill their demands as per promise of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto they said. They demanded of government to restore teachers’ quota, approve time scale and teaching allowance, otherwise PTA will enlarge their protest in Sindh.
