LARKANA: May 28, 2009. (Nazir Siyal for PCP) Sindh Minister for Sports Dr. Mohammed Ali Shah on Thursday said that promoting sports activities is actually the fighting against crime in the society, in this connection all districts’ infrastructure development and sports facilitation will be increased interior districts of Sindh. This he said while addressing the inauguration ceremony of 12th Sindh Games 2009 Larkana from May 28th-31st June 2009 organized by Sindh Sports Board and Sindh Olympic Association here at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Stadium. On the occasion, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs government of Sindh Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, District Coordination Officer Larkana Mohammed Jaffer Abbasi, Secretary Sindh Olympic Association and Organizing Secretary 12th Sindh Games Ahmed Ali Rajput, Mohammed Hussain Makani, Associate organizing Secretary Shafqat Hussain Makani, All EDOs and DOs Sports and other dignitaries were among the 12th Sindh Games. Minister Sports during the inauguration of Astrotruf here at Khuhro Complex, said that it is a historic day, he has now fulfilled his promise made on the event of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto games a moth back. He said this is a gift for the hockey players in Larkana to play and promote and challenge hockey on international level. The players should perform and improve their skill level on Astrotruf practice he said. He said after the Larkana other districts would be given opportunities to setup Astrotruf and other sports facilities, he said Larkana is the tournament champion players last two years and has won from Karachi also. Dr. Mohammed Ali Shah said in Holland about 360 Astrotrufs, now we have to perform better skill full players from Pakistan. He said 400 million would be spent on other projects to develop Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Stadium and Khuhro Complex hockey grounds, while other districts of Sindh will be developed and facilitated with shelters, cover areas of match viewers he said. He said there is much talent in Sindh people specially the Larkana needs promoting sports activities to improve talent he said. On the occasion District Coordination Larkana said it is much praised that the Astrotruf concept was introduced by former prime Minister late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto at Hockey Club of Pakistan in 1970s. It is feel a great pleasure that a new criteria would be develop and players will play on Astrotruf after having in Karachi and Hyderabad. He said it will boost up more talent and once change in the hockey game. Later, the Sports Minister reviewed match between the players here at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Satdium Larkana. 12th Sindh Games 2009 Larkana by Ministry of Sindh Sports department and Sindh Olympic Association started on Thursday from May 28th-31st June 2009 here at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Stadium Larkana. During the 12th Sindh Games in Larkana 24 teams of Boys and 11 teams of girls playing at various venues including Khuhro Complex, Officers Club, Police Training Center, Jinnah Bagh, Government Pilot Secondary School, Shaikh Zaid Colony Stadium, Cadet College and Government Degree College Larkana. On the occasion, different games including Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Body building, Boxing, Cycling, Foot Ball, Gymnastics, Hand Ball, Hockey, Judo, Karate, Net Ball, Swimming, Taekwondo, Tennis, Throw Ball, Volley Ball, Weight Lifting, Wrestling, Wushu, table tennis, hockey, Soft Ball and traditional games Wanjh Watti, Shooting Ball, Kodi Kodi, Malakhra will be played at different locations in Larkana. During the 12th Sindh games total of 2055 players will participate in all kinds of games out of each 411 from all districts including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, Larkana, in this regard about 411 players will participating out of 203 male and 1000 female in each districts, while officials of games will be 60 out of 42 male and 18 females told the Ahmed Ali Rajput Organizing secretary 12th Sindh Games Larkana. During the Sindh Games in Larkana, it was noted a highest temperature in Larkana which resulted several players including female players were fainted and hospitalized on the occasion, the players also complained for the scorching heat in Larkana and condemned the arrangements of accomodation and other basic fascilities to the players from out side districts.
