LARKANA: May 22, 2009. (Nazir Siyal reports for PCP) Provincial Minister for Education and Literacy Pir Mazhar-Ul-Haq has emphasized on the officials of Education and Literacy department to coordinate all stakeholders, civil society to promote literacy in the remote areas of Sindh specially for the girls education. Addressing the long hours seminar/workshop reading Education for All “Commitment of peoples government”, (EFA) at local hotel, the Minister directed all EDOs and DOs to reopen all closed schools with a challenge of Education for All. Mir Mazhar Said the appointments of all HST, JST and PST teachers will be according to the pure merit and no any quota has been given to Ministers, MPAs and other politicals. He admitted that there are many flaws in Education system, the copy culture and the quality of Education are main Challenges for the Sindh government. He also took serious notice of miserable conditions of 30 School buildings and non availability of teachers in various far and flung areas of Sindh, he directed the EDOs to take necessary action against those ghost teachers. Minister said education is the right of every child, since taking over as Senior Minister to Government of Sindh and Minister Education & Literacy on the April 8, 2008, taken keen interest for achieving the goals of Education for All and has taken all out efforts to uplift the Province. He said there are 1400 closed schools are in Sindh and now the challenge to the officials to reopen with the community participation and civil society. Pir Mazhar ul Haq expressed keen interest in the goals of EFA for the early Childhood Care and Education in Sindh Compulsory Elementary Education in Sindh, Adult Literacy in Sindh, Promotion of Female Education in Sindh and Non-Formal Education in Sindh. Before this Pir Mazhar ul Haq also participated in the literacy walk with motivation to all the stake holders for achieving the goals of EFA. He said according to the survey of PSLM 2006-07, the Literacy Rate upto 10 years and above is 55 overall and male 67, female 42, while in Urban 70 male and 65 female, in Rural male 60 and female 30 he told. He told that the department working for early Childhood Care and Education, Expanding and improving comprehensive early childhood care and education, specially for the most vulnerable disadvantaged children. He said all out efforts will be made to ensure all children with special emphasis on girls and children in difficult in circumstances for free and compulsory Primary Education of good quality by 2015. He said for the achievement of girls’ full and equal access to in basic education of good quality Education through improving all aspects of the quality of education especially in literacy, numericy he said. On the occasion, Director Literacy Abdul Wahab Abbasi, District Coordination Officer Larkana Mohammed Jaffer Abbasi, DCO Kamber-Shahdadkot Zahid Hussain Memon, Professor Perveen Munshi, PPP local leader Ghulamullah Mahoto, All EDOs Education, DOs Education, NCHD Officials, SEF officials, men and women civil society representatives attended the Seminar. Meanwhile, The Sind Minister for Law Muhammad Ayaz Soomro Sindh Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Ahmad Khan Durani, Sindh Minister for Jails Haji Muzfar Ali Shujrah, visited Central Jail Larkana and inquired the problems of the prisoners the Ministers visited different Jail Wards where the prisoners pointed out the problems regarding the delay in cases as well as the facilities were demanded under the Jail Manual. Speaking on the occasion the Sindh Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Ahmad Khan Durani has said that under the directives President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari we are visiting the different Jails in the province and the Jail Authorities may provide their requirement so that the facilities may be provided for prisoners under the Law, he said that Asif Ali Zardari remained in the Jail up to 9 years which is a record that no any Politician remained in Jail as so long period. On the occasion the Law Minister has said that the purpose of the visit is that the cleanliness in the Jail may be ensured and the School, Masjid may be constructed in the Jail he also said that all out efforts are being made to dispose of the pending cases in High court/ Session Court in this connection the Government is tiring to pay fee to advocate up to Rupees 10,000 so that the poor prisoners may be assisted and the condition of the Jail may be rehabilitees in proper way, he said that the Jail police will be provided transport and other facilities and that the Jail force will be separated so they will be able to take prisoners to the various Courts in safe custody this is first time in history that four Provincial Ministers are visiting together for inquiring the problems of the prisoners. The cases of 13D will be dispose under the Law in this connection Additional Advocate General Sindh High Court Larkana Abdul Hamid Bhurgri and District Attorney are present here the will help the Dispose of in miner cases so may be relief may be provided to the prisoners. On the occasion Sindh Minister for the Jails Haji Muzafer Shujrah also spoke on occasion said that the present PPP Government was keenly interested to provide facilities to the prisoner in 22 Jails in province the daily food allowance was increased from 35 to 50 per prisoner per day and the summery for the enhancement of the Medical treatment from rupees 120 to 500 was submitted Minister Sindh for approval the survey work of H.B.C was started in the different Jails out of 18925 prisoners 14000 were checked in this regard and the survey work on the remaining prisoners in this regard is in hand which will be completed in due Course of time. The Jail Minister also said that the salaries of Jail force will be increased and may be equaled Punjab Jail force and it should be implemented from 1st July 2009.On ocassion Sindh Sports Minister Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah announced to provide the volley Ball facility (Court) for the prisoners in the Jails so that the recreation may be ensured. On the occasion DIG Jails Major Gulam Hussain Khoso and other concern officers and party leaders were present.
