UK. April 1, 2009. (PCP) The divided Church of England after 2008 Lambeth Conference of Bishops on homosexuality among clergy was failure of Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan William as a leader to keep united largest Christian congregation of protestants around world. The difference on theology followed by statement of Bishop Dr Nazir-Ali, Bishop of Rochester, on ’No Go Areas” in UK for evangelists and favor of Archbishop to Islamic Sharia Courts surprised Christian on shaky administration. Bishop of Rochester and first colored bishop in UK, Bishop Michael Nazir Ali received death threats after saying that parts of Britain had become “no-go areas” for non-Muslims was living under police security. “The UK media reports have hurt Christians living in Islamic states when newspapers quoted Bishop Ali as Radical Bishop” said Nazir S Bhatti, Chief of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC in statement here today. Nazir Bhatti added “ Bishop Michael Nazir Ali is true servant of Lord and his services for Anglican Church shall be ever remembered weather he leads holy prayers or steps down for persecuted congregates in Muslim countries” “The resignation of Bishop Nazir Ali shall be warning call to clergy who are abandoning true Christian teachings in favor of radical ideology under so-called Christian-Muslim dialogues” said Dr. Nazir Bhatti PCC Chief said, “ Can Archbishop of Canterbury demand Saudi Arabia to permit building of Churches in kingdom after his undue favors to UK Muslims on Sharia courts” Acceding to one UK media commentator Melanie Phillips said it was “a shocking rebuke to the church, that Bishop Ali has to leave his post of influence and authority as a bishop in order to carry out the church’s core duty to defend its own against attack.” Bishop Dr Nazir-Ali came under Lambeth pressure to resign after speaking on Islam and homosexuality in light of biblical teachings. Another media outlet reports that in a letter to clergy in his diocese, the bishop said: “I have decided that the time is now right for me to step down as Bishop of Rochester. I have valued my modest part in the life of the Church locally, nationally and globally.” While a spokesman said: “Bishop Michael is hoping to work with a number of church leaders from areas where the church is under pressure, particularly in minority situations, who have asked him to assist them with education and training for their particular situation.” Born in Pakistan to Christian parents who had converted from Islam, Dr Nazir-Ali is the Church of England’s first and only Asian bishop.
